Halloween Stories

After the dice writing activity this are some of the final stories my kids wrote. Very proud of them! Their writing has improve tremendously. Below is our board. My students came up with their own title and plot as well.
We used stickers in some of the stories but my kids used their artistic side mostly. Find the template used here. It can be used for many more writing activities.

Writing Activity for Halloween

This writing activity was so much fun! We started wring Halloween stories one week ago. (following the writing process) We also tried to focus on a paragraph that would describe our setting using sensory language. Students have been very engage with their activity and want to work on it every day. We are almost done! (lots of one on one conferences)  I will post pictures of some of the stories later. Author's Purpose Posters

We have been learning about Author's Purpose these couple of weeks. We started with the PIE strategy.  As you can see I have one of the old blackboards in my classroom, so I decided to print the PIE strategy on color paper and it looks very good with that background.  Also we used a foldable that student glued on their journal to have as a reference. Compare and Contrast

We read the story Mi Familia from Senderos this week. My students enjoy seen the pictures of Camila's family. We use this story for the skill: Compare and Contrast using a simple Venn Diagram. The kids compared their family with Camila's and they did great! Here is the Free Venn Diagram we used.
